Budget 2023: Hunt hails childcare extra funding ‘biggest transformation’ of his lifetime

Jeremy Hunt has hailed the Budget provisions for childcare as the “biggest transformation” in his lifetime.

On Wednesday, 15 March, the chancellor announced 30 hours of free childcare for all under-fives from the moment maternity care ends, where eligible.

The extended help will come into place from September 2025.

“We have one of the most expensive childcare systems in the world, we know it’s something which is a huge worry for women in particular,” Mr Hunt said.
