Budget 2021: UC claimants to gain £1,000 a year as ‘taper rate’ cut by 8%
Rishi Sunak has announced a cut to the universal credit ‘taper rate’ in Budget 2021 that will see claimants on average keep an extra £1,000 a year of their benefits.
In the final announcement of his heavily leaked Budget, Sunak chose to give something back to those who he has been accused of taking too much from – as a £6 billion cut to universal credit is due to come into effect this week.
