Blinken on Afghanistan: 'We've succeeded in achieving our objectives'
“We were in Afghanistan for one overriding purpose” American Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, told CNN’s State of the Union on Sunday. “To deal with the folks that attacked us on 9/11”.
Blinken went on to say: “On the terms that we went into Afghanistan in the first place, we’ve succeeded in achieving our objectives.”
This comes as the US rush to complete a full withdrawal of its embassy in Kabul. Taliban fighters have now entered the city after rapidly taking over provincials capitals across the country.
