BBC Radio 1 falls silent and goes off air after bizarre announcement
BBC Radio 1 was abruptly taken off the air during Greg James' Giant DJ Hunt, going silent for more than five minutes today.
Greg James was taking part in the Giant DJ Hunt event, searching for fellow presenter Mollie King when the station went off the air.
While searching, he missed the 12pm deadline to find her and the show dramatically went offline for more than five minutes, leaving listeners and viewers shocked.
The DJ was on a boat looking for King, who was sailing off the Isle of Wight as part of the game.
The Giant DJ Hunt tasks Radio 1 presenters to go into hiding and Greg James must track them down. Mollie was the last one for him to find.
It is unclear if the stunt was planned, or if it was a glitch in the broadcast.
