Moment police rescue baby kangaroo from ‘crocodile-infested floodwaters’

Police in Queensland, Australia, rescued a baby kangaroo from floodwaters as crocodiles swam nearby.

Nickhamed “Lucky”, the marsupial was plucked out of the water and released to dry land behind a residential community in Burketown on Sunday, 12 March.

Around 100 local residents have been airlifted out of the area following heavy rainfall.

Queensland Police have urged displaced people not to return to their homes and to limit movement in flood water “due to unseen hazards and recent crocodile sightings.” Click here to sign up for our newsletters.
