Sea lion uses nose to play video game as part of US Navy research
Sea lions have been trained to play video games as part of US Navy research on cognitive enrichment for marine mammals.
Footage shows Spike using his nose to push four buttons and direct a cursor through a maze on a screen in an enclosure in San Diego Bay.
“When he crosses the finish line, we cheer and his trainer rewards him with herring. The joy in the eye contact between him and his trainer as they celebrate a job well done - Spike with his side-to-side dance and victory yelps - is palpable and infectious,” the Navy said.
