Meet the cloned camels living in Dubai
A lab in Dubai is cloning camels for races and beauty pageants.
Nisar Wani led the world’s first cloning of camels in 2009 and now replicates a few dozen a year.
It is a big business in the Gulf region where camels are cherished and can earn huge amounts of money.
DNA is removed from a camel egg cell and replaced with DNA from a frozen body cell of a camel prized for a particular quality such as speed.
No sperm is needed for the egg to develop into an embryo.
