High school cheerleader competes solo at state championships after teammates quit squad
A Nebraska high school cheerleader competed solo in a state competition after her three teammates quit just weeks beforehand.
Katrina Kohel, who attends Morrill High School, took to the mat alone at the Nebraska State High School Cheer and Dance Championships on 17 February after her coach informed her that her teammates pulled out of the squad due to personal reasons.
The athlete learned a new routine to perform on her own less than two weeks before the championships.
Kohel placed eighth out of 12 squads, the highest her team has placed in the past three years.
