Tributes paid to ‘hero’ ex-police dog stabbed protecting handler as he dies aged 14
Tributes have been paid to a "hero" ex-police dog, who was once stabbed as he protected his handler from an armed suspect, after he died at 14 years old last Thursday (27 July).
Finn was stabbed twice after grabbing the leg of the suspect, preventing a fatal blow to his handler PC Dave Wardell in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, in 2016.
The German shepherd went on to compete in Britain's Got Talent, reaching the finals in 2019.
A Facebook tribute posted on behalf of Mr Wardell read: “Thank you for your service Finn, now go and rest in peace our sweet boy.”
