Disney parks boss unveils realistic lightsaber at SXSW tech conference

Disney’s parks and experiences boss unveiled a “real” lightsaber at the SXSW conference on Friday, 10 March.

Footage shows Josh D’Amaro pressing a button on the side of the iconic Star Wars device, which emits a bright blue ray.

“I have the coolest job in the world,” he said.

Though D’Amaro explained that the lightsaber is used on onboard the Walt Disney Resort’s Galactic Starcruiser experience, Deadline reported that video of the lightsabers used on board the simulated cruise is different to the one seen at SXSW.
