Alpacas and llamas on loose bring Cumbria traffic to standstill

Escaped llamas and alpacas caused chaos on a main road after making a break from a farm in Cumbria on Monday evening (23 October).

The animals, who live at Basecamp North Lakes near Troutbeck, ended up on the A66 after a vehicle crashed into a fence on the site and left a "gaping hole" according to parent company Alpacaly Ever After, who supplied footage.

Staff rounded up the animals, who had made their way around half a mile up the road, said owner Terry Barlow.

"I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone on the A66 who stopped their cars," he added.
