Prince William’s heartwarming interaction with royal fan, 93, who has been to three coronations

A 93-year-old wowed the Prince of Wales as she explained how she had lived through three coronations, and how she “slept on the pavement for three nights” to see his grandmother’s coronation.

Dame Elizabeth Watts was one of thousands of guests at Buckingham Palace for a garden party on Tuesday 9 May, where William and the Princess of Wales represented the King.

“[At] your grandmother’s [coronation], I slept on the pavement for three nights and it poured with rain,” she explained.

Dame Elizabeth then sparked laughter as she revealed she had measles for George’s coronation when she was seven.
