Bionic Hero Arm ‘instance confidence boost’ for five-year-old born without hand
A bionic "Hero Arm" has been an "instant confidence boost" for a five-year-old boy who was born without a left hand, his mother said.
Footage shows Jordan Marotta, who is the youngest recipient in the world of the arm produced by Bristol-based Open Bionics, displaying his Iron Man-style arm.
The company opened four clinics in America in the last year.
His mother Ashley Marotta says he had rushed back to his school to show his friends the custom-made 3D-printed prosthetic that uses special sensors which detect muscular contractions and turn them into bionic hand movements.
Several children in the UK received a Hero Arm aged seven.
