Michael Parkinson presented with giant cake by Billy Connolly in final 1982 episode of hit BBC show
Sir Michael Parkinson was presented with a huge cake wheeled on stage by Billy Connolly on the 1982 final episode of his hit talk show, Parkinson.
The beloved host died peacefully at home at the age of 88 “after a brief illness” and “in the company of his family” on Wednesday night (16 August), his family said.
Sir Michael’s eponymous BBC show first aired in 1971 and ran until 1982, with the comedian and fellow guests such as Kenneth Williams dishing out cake to the audience on the last episode, before being revived in 1998.
