From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

When the people of the United States of America went to the polls on November 8, 2016, and ticked the box for Donald Trump, they clearly knew what they wanted from their future president.

Some may have voted for him because of his history in business and promises to reduced migrants coming into America. Others may have hoped that he would retweet videos of a woman juggling a football.

Well, that's exactly what happened yesterday when Trump retweeted a video of that exact description which he, in his own words, called 'Amazing!'

Trump obviously saw this after it was retweeted by one on the few people he follows on Twitter, Piers Morgan.

That's beside the point, though, as this was an incredibly odd thing for the president to do and the internet was well and truly baffled.

It's literally something a dad would share on Facebook.

Perhaps it wasn't the football skills that he thought were amazing...

Let's not forget that this comes in the midst of a so-called 'national emergency'.

Trump's previous interactions with football have been a little odd, to say the least, but this is by far the strangest.
