What Virgin Atlantic's sale has to offer
Get great deals on some of the iconic airline's Economy, Premium and Upper Class fares
Many airlines — even transatlantic carriers — are paring back the in-flight experience these days. Not Virgin Atlantic. All its passengers get meals and drinks included with the price of their ticket while the new entertainment system has over 300 hours of television and films to watch. With the launch of the new A350, with new cabins and seats, its fleet is being completely revamped. It’s an airline that still knows that flying should feel like a treat.
If you’re travelling with just hand luggage, Economy Light is Virgin Atlantic’s cheapest flight price. The next category, Economy Classic, which also gives you a 31in seat pitch, gives you 23kg luggage allowance and advanced seat assignment. Those who fancy a bit of spoiling without breaking the bank should opt for Economy Delight, which has extra legroom and priority boarding and check-in.

Virgin’s new A350 is launching between London and New York on 18 September before being rolled out across the rest of the airline’s routes. The new Premium cabin has plenty of frills, including leather seats that recline a full 7in with a roomy 38in seat pitch, footrest, headrest and — if you’re on a night flight — an amenity kit. There’s a glass of bubbly for take-off and meals are served on china. There are also snacks that you can help yourself to. The television screen is an impressive 13.3in and there are USB charging points. Wi-Fi is available on some flights for an extra fee.

In Upper Class, the luxuries come thick and fast. The leather seats, with a pitch of 44in, all face the windows, have aisle access and privacy screens. They can also turn into flatbeds at the flick of a switch. Everything’s supersized — the screen measures 18.5in and passengers can control programming with their own phones and devices.
The spoiling, however, starts with chauffeur-driven cars to take you to the airport, plus special check-in desks and priority luggage. Before the flight, Upper Class passengers get to relax in the Virgin Clubhouse with spa treatments, meals and drinks.
On board, champagne and fine wines are on offer, as well as a new seasonally inspired menu overseen by chef Donal Skehan. Virgin’s newest innovation, however, is the Loft, a space where up to eight passengers can go to hang out during the flight. Designed with the help of regular passengers, there’s a large screen so passengers can watch a film together using bluetooth headphones while enjoying cocktails and snacks.
