Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Dolly the Circus Waggon, Ceredigion, Wales

The lion tamer has gone, the trapeze has been removed and the stripy tent has long since been packed away, but the spirit of the circus lives on in west Wales in the form of this quirky accommodation. Don't let out that pantomime groan, however, this is not a tacky clown-themed shack – far from it. Dolly The Circus Waggon, situated in the eight acres of grounds of the excellent Ffynnon Fendigaid Bed and Breakfast, is a carefully restored wagon that offers a cosy and rather romantic space for two loved-up folk to hide away from the rest of the world. There is a parlour, double bedroom, fully-equipped kitchen and dining area – all remarkably spacious for a once road-worthy wagon – while a separate shepherd's hut houses a private bathroom and dressing area.

Situated just three miles from the coast, Dolly is also in an ideal position to make the most of West Wales – the Coastal Path is nearby, and the Preseli Hills and Cambrian Mountains are also within easy reach. What’s more, Dolly is not about slumming it at all, but offers everything you would expect of a self-catered cottage: the light oak interior gives the sense you are staying in a genuine antique, while you have all the mod cons you need – a TV, wardrobes, oven, fridge, etc. A unique holiday experience without compromising on comfort.
