1. Bjorn the polar bear and his handler Ursula, pictured above, will be at W5 in Belfast today at 2pm and 3.30pm (w5online.co. uk). While Bjorn mingles with the audience, Ursula explains how to keep on the right side of the predator.

2. There's a week of activities at the Alnwick Garden, Northumberland, starting today (alnwickgarden.com), with storytelling, puppet-making and craft workshops.

3. Inspire the kids at Explore At-Bristol this Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday (at-bristol.org.uk), where they can meet top coaches and players to see what it takes to be a sporting champion.

4. Film-lovers have a treat in store with the opening of the Movieum of London on Friday in County Hall (themovieum.com), where they can go behind the scenes of film-making.

5. National Nest Box Week is celebrated at two locations in Kent. From tomorrow until Friday, visitors to Sissinghurst Castle can build nest boxes for dormice (nationaltrust.org.uk). On Wednesday and Thursday at Bedgebury Pinetum children can try bird-watching (forestry.gov.uk/bedgebury).
