THE Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau is sending a delegation to London next week to tell people that it is business as usual in the city following Hurricane Andrew, which hit Florida at the end of last month.
While the number of package holidaymakers visiting Florida has not been affected, the state's tourist office reports that the number booking fly-drive holidays has fallen. 'People have got the wrong picture about Florida from the news reports,' said a spokesman for Florida's London office.
The delegation is keen to show that the city's tourist districts and Miami Beach were not badly affected by the storm. Of the main attractions, only Miami Zoo and Monkey Jungle are still closed.
A representative from the Florida Keys is also coming to London with the message that the Keys are open to tourists as normal.
