THE Dordogne, Normandy and Brittany have been replaced by the Basque country, the Auvergne, Provence and the Cote d'Azur as favourite destinations for French motoring holidays. RAC Travel Services (081-686 0088) says its confirmed French bookings are up by 20 per cent on last year; self-catering packages have increased by 10 per cent and the number of people booking Motorail has trebled.
