This weekend has seen Marriott opening two new hotels in Sweden, its first properties in the country. Hilton moved into the Polish town of Gdansk and the luxury St Regis chain opened its new property on the idyllic French Polynesian islands.

Hilton Gdansk
Gdansk, Poland

The 150-room Hilton Gdansk has been constructed using native limestone and traditional Polish bricks to ensure it matches its surroundings. Guests can enjoy a rooftop "urban beach," the highest rooftop bar in Gdansk, along with several bars, a restaurant and fitness center.

Mercure Madrid Santo Domingo
Madrid, Spain

Accor has commissioned young Spanish artists to design some of the 80 rooms at the new Mercure Madrid Santo Domingo, which offers themed rooms and an original porcelain and gold leaf vaulted lobby. The hotel will also host temporary exhibitions of classical works of art that belong to the hotel's owner.

Fairfield Inn & Suites Notre Dame
Notre Dame, IN, USA

The new Fairfield Inn & Suites opens just in time for the Notre Dame football season, offering 119 guestrooms with flat-screen televisions, free high-speed internet, mini-refrigerators and microwaves. The hotel is located off the Notre Dame university campus.

Courtyard Stockholm Kungsholmen
Stockholm, Sweden

Marriott opened two hotels in Sweden this week, its first two in the country. The 278-room Courtyard Stockholm Kungsholmen features a restaurant designed to represent a "virtual forest," which serves sparkling wine made of local birch sap.

The 128-room Renaissance Malmo is part of a building that dates back to the early 1800s and has been designed by renowned designer Henry Chebaane. The hotel offers a Swedish/Spanish restaurant and is situated in the Lilla Torg (Small Square), in the heart of Malmo.

Bora Bora, French Polynesia
