Our resident flights expert finds more unbelievable deals
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Every week, Jack Sheldon from Jack’s Flight Club selects a flight deal from the UK for Independent readers that you can’t afford to miss. This week: the US from multiple UK hubs from £159.
This morning Norwegian have officially announced their annual Autumn sale on non-stop long-haul flights to the US, and some of these are incredible bargains, especially considering that they are all non-stop fares. London has a plethora of options to 10 different cities, while the fares from Scotland and Northern Ireland are most attractive, starting from only £159 for a return ticket.
Many of these routes also include options over the winter holidays and school half-term dates, so definitely worth a look.
How to book
Availability is scattered throughout October 2017 to April 2018, so the best way to find your ideal travel dates is to put your desired route into Google Flights. Then allow their calendar tool to load and identify the best travel dates - these should have the lowest fares and will be highlighted in green. Once you've selected your travel dates, you have two options:
1. Go directly to norwegian.com/uk and re-enter the same itinerary you selected and book. This option will offer the cheapest fare on these flights but will only include a single carry-on (up to 10kg).
or
2. Book with an Online Travel Agent offering some extra perks (such as checked luggage) for only a slightly higher ticket price. Read my pro tip below for details.

Pro tip
While booking directly with Norwegian Air will give you more flexibility if you need to make changes to your booking, if you'd like to check a free bag, select your seat, and possibly even add a meal, some OTAs (Online Booking Agents) such as Expedia and Edreams will offer those perks included in their fare for less than it would cost you to add them with Norwegian.
For example a non-stop from London-Gatwick to Seattle departing on October 23rd and returning on October 29th will cost you £282, but adding a checked bag and a meal each way will add-on £100 if booked with Norwegian. However, you can book the same flight with Expedia for £309, which already includes both - a saving of £73.
