From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Q Do you know when Norwegian will release their flights between London and Las Vegas for travel in early May? Or are there any other companies that do cheap flights on the route at that time?

Chris Wintle

A Norwegian tells me that its Gatwick-Las Vegas service “is initially intended as a seasonal route from 31 October to 23 March 2017”. In other words, the link is regarded as a good place to deploy a Boeing 787 through the winter, but during the summer there are more lucrative routes for that plane.

British Airways and Virgin Atlantic compete year-round on non-stop routes from London to Las Vegas - BA from Heathrow, Virgin from Gatwick. Next May, non-stop fares are typically £900 return. However, you can easily find one-stop alternatives around the £550-£650 level on a range of airlines, such as American Airlines from Heathrow via Dallas-Fort Worth or Chicago, or WestJet from Gatwick via Calgary or Vancouver.
