Paris looks east
The Louvre opens its new Islamic art galleries tomorrow, displaying 2,500 objects drawn from India to Spain, dating from the 7th to 19th centuries. The striking glass galleries are covered by a rippling steel roof. It's the gallery's first major innovation since I M Pei's pyramid was unveiled 23 years ago (louvre.fr/en).
Morocco looks west
Morgans Hotel Group has just added to its tranche of chic urban retreats that span from LA (Mondrian) to London (The Sanderson and St Martin's Lane). This time the location is Marrakech and the brand is Delano. It flaunts interiors by Jacques Garcia and 360-degree views from the Sky Lounge (delanomarrakech.com).
Out on the town
There's a sleek new website from Hg2 Guides. It's got bigger images, better functionality, but the same guides to the hippest spots to eat, drink and play in cities from Berlin to Barcelona (hg2.com).
The life aquatic
A new underwater safari of South Australia's Eyre peninsula is being offered by Adventure Bay Charters for A$1500/£1,000 (adventurebaycharters.com.au).
Straight to the art
The Tate's tourism arm, Tate Travels, will run a guided trip to Russia when Tate Britain’s Pre-Raphaelite exhibition moves to Moscow. The tour runs 5-11 July 2013 for £3,990pp, with flights (tatetravels.co.uk).

Into the unknown
The Adventure Film Festival, sponsored by The Independent, takes place in October at 30 UK-wide cinemas. Films include Crossing the Ice, a re-creation of Scott and Amundsen's South Pole expedition (adventurefest.co.uk).
As one door opens
On Sunday, the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam reopens after eight years, but the Van Gogh Museum moves to the Hermitage for six months.
