Travel Agenda: San Miniato; Baltimore's Four Seasons hotel; Abu Dhabi Art; Hyde Park Winter Wonderland; Big Snow Festival
Today: The medieval Tuscan village of San Miniato celebrates one of its most prize treasures, the white truffle. Starting today, the festival takes place over the next three weekends. Expect stalls selling the freshly harvested truffles and other local delicacies (salami, cheese, wine) as well as specially-devised restaurant dishes (festivals-of-tuscany.com).
This week: The Four Seasons hotel opens in Baltimore on Monday, offering harbour views, a spa and two restaurants – one that's an upmarket take on a tavern, and another that interprets a Japanese pub (fourseasons.com/baltimore).
On Wednesday, Abu Dhabi Art opens at the Saadiyat Cultural Centre. The modern and contemporary art fair brings together more than 40 of the world's most prestigious art galleries and runs until Saturday (abudhabiartfair.ae).
In London, the annual Hyde Park Winter Wonderland opens on Friday, with an ice rink and other wintry delights such as a circus, rides, observation wheel and food stalls; to 3 January 2012 (hydeparkwinterwonderland.com).
In the diary: The Big Snow Festival is taking place in the resort of Kopaonik, Serbia, from 23-29 March next year, with a line-up that features Basement Jaxx, pictured, Judge Jules and parties on the pistes (thebigsnowfestival.com).
