This week: The Reykjavik International Film Festival is in Iceland from Thursday to 2 October. Honorary guests include Lone Sherfig (An Education, One Day) and the programme of events includes a screening "somewhere deep in the centre of the earth" and The Neverending Story being shown at a public swimming pool (en.riff.is). In Cornwall, the Food and Drink Festival starts in Truro on Friday, with a food and drink pavilion and chef's theatre, as well as activities for children, including learning how cheese is made; until Sunday (cornwallfoodanddrink.co.uk).
In the diary: The iconic Hotel Bel-Air is set to re-open in Los Angeles next month after a two-year refurbishment that has seen the interiors of the luxurious, pink Spanish-colonial-style landmark updated and embellished with new additions (hotelbelair.com).
