Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Tomorrow: In Italy, the Umbrian town of Norcia stages its annual truffle harvest (also next weekend). The "Nero Norcia" festival sees food producers and gourmets gather in the town's medieval squares to sample the prized delicacy and celebrate other regional foods such as salami, cheese and wine (neronorcia.it).

This Week: In London, the Vue Cinema in Leicester Square hosts a "Night of Adventure" on Monday: 10 intrepid explorers take to the stage to regale the audience with tales of travel in far-flung places. The charity event is run by Hope and Homes for Children; tickets £20 (hopeandhomes.org).

In Amsterdam, the Dreams of Nature exhibition opens on Friday at the Van Gogh museum. It will explore the use of symbolism in the works of artists such as Kandinsky, Monet, Gauguin and Munch until September (vangoghmuseum.nl).

In The Diary: In Croatia, two music festivals migrate south from their former home in Petrcane, down the Adriatic, to Tisno this summer. Joint tickets to the Garden Festival (4-11 July) and the Electric Elephant (12-16 July) cost £150, which includes entrance but not flights and accommodation (thegardenfestival.eu).
