Today: English Tourism Week starts today, until 18 March (enjoyengland.com). Events include free wine tours at Biddenden Vineyards in Kent, campervan hire discounts in Brighton, and walks, music and theatre across the country.
The Ferrari museum has opened in Modena, converted from the house where Enzo Ferrari was born in 1898 (museocasaenzoferrari.it). Read about it in the travel pages of Sunday's Independent on Sunday.
This week: In central Portugal, the medieval town of Obidos hosts its annual chocolate festival, with tastings, cake contests and sweet sculptures until 25 March (festivalchocolate.cm-obidos.pt).
In the diary: New York's NoMad hotel opens at the end of the month in the area "north of Madison Square Park". It occupies a Beaux-Arts building, with 168 modern rooms and suites (thenomadhotel.com). Further south, the Dominican Republic gets a new dance festival, Groovefest, between 5-12 September. Artists on the bill include DJ Kenny Dope (groovefestevents.com).
