Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Today...

Check into the brand new Nylo Las Colinas in Irving, Texas. The hotel follows the brand's loft-style aesthetic, with exposed brick, tactile fabrics and hip styling (nylohotels.com/lascolinas).

This week...

The Festa de Noantri takes over the streets of Trastevere in Rome until 30 July, with cultural events, street performances and fireworks (festadenoantri.it). For a city with cool credentials, hit the beach in Paris. The annual Paris-Plages event starts on Monday and sees the city's riverside thoroughfares transformed by sand, deckchairs, palm trees and summery activities (parisinfo.com).

In the diary...

The Ben & Jerry's Sundae on the Common adds flavour to Clapham Common in London from 25-26 July. The mini music festival's programme includes free ice cream, a petting zoo and music from Super Furry Animals, the Human League and more; limited tickets are available at the gate (benjerry.co.uk). Over the same weekend in Edinburgh is The Gathering, the Scottish festival of Highland Games. As well as traditional games, there will be whisky tastings, talks, music and dancing (clangathering.org).
