The package

Thomas Cook relaunches Cape Verde as a winter destination after three-years. Weekly charters will depart for Sal from Gatwick from November; packages are offered at seven hotels in Santa Maria resort (thomascook.com).

The route

Loco2.com, the European train booking service, will be selling trips on Spain’s Renfe rail network from Tuesday. Through tickets from the UK are available, with financial protection from delays and disruptions.

The kit

Panasonic’s new LumixGM1 digital camera is stylish (bound in tan or black leather), compact (playing card size) and comes with Wi-Fi, 16 megapixel sensor and LCD touch-screen. £630 (panasonic.co.uk/LumixGM).
