Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Posh seats

To try to fill its business-class cabins over Christmas and New Year, British Airways is offering cut-price Club World tickets to some glamorous destinations for a flat fare of £1,007 return. The price applies to Rio, Boston, Dubai, and San Francisco, but the dates are extremely specific: book by 4 December and travel between 21 December and 3 January (ba.com).

Big Apple

Virgin Holidays is offering a long weekend in New York for £585pp based on two sharing, departing Heathrow to JFK on 24 January. The price includes three nights, with breakfast, in the mid-town Hotel Metro, a short walk from the Empire State Building and Macy's (virginholidays.co.uk).

Singapore stopover

Ferocious competition prevails between the UK and Australasia, so Singapore Airlines has introduced a "South-East Asian Excursion" option – an add-on trip from Singapore to any of 31 destinations across Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Cambodia, Burma, and Indonesia for as little as £99 (singaporeairlines.com).
