Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Direct flights to the north Atlantic's Faroe Islands only operate from June to August. Sunvil Discovery (sunvil.co.uk) is launching a new walking tour of Mykines island, known for its colony of puffins.

Book before 31 March and three-nights cost from £456 per person (a saving of £338) including return flights and B&B hotel accommodation.

The route

British Airways launches direct non-stop 11-hour flights to San Diego, California's second biggest city, on 1 June.

The accommodation

One of the biggest openings of 2011 takes place this month with the 138-room Mandarin Oriental Paris (mandarinoriental.com) on the fashionable Rue Saint Honoré. Prices unavailable at time of going to press.

Tallinn previews Lennusadam Harbour (meremuuseum.ee), its new maritime museum created out of the world's only surviving seaplane hangars.

The great outdoors

Walkers, cyclists and horse-riders will be able to explore the south side of Loch Ness along a 30-mile off-road trail this month. The South Loch Ness Trail (visit lochness.com) will run from Loch Tarff to Torbreck on the edge of Inverness.

The family holiday

New for this summer, the pioneering, family-friendly Sands Resort in Cornwall (sandsresort.co.uk) is launching a Junior Explorer package for families who book a minimum of four nights at the hotel. From £699 per family.

The adventure

Escape from it all on a Canadian-style hiking five-day adventure, courtesy of Inghams (inghams.co.uk). You'll be guided along the glacier lakes around Jasper, in the Rockies, and camp there for a couple of nights of your stay. From £1,175.

The British day out

The Roman conquest and occupation of northern England is the focus of a new visitor experience at the Tullie House Museum in Carlisle (tulliehouse.co.uk), opening 25 June.

The winter sports

A new £390,000 restaurant at the base of Scotland's Nevis Range ski area (nevis range.co.uk) opens. The new restaurant will have a contemporary feel and command great views of the mountains.
