Hand Picked Hotels, which has 17 country houses across the UK, is offering a range of discounts for stays taken on either 14 or 15 February over Valentine's Day. In Yorkshire, the Crathorne Hall Hotel has an overnight stay for £215 per couple with breakfast, a five-course dinner, cocktails and canapés included. Further south, Woodlands Park Hotel in Surrey has the same for £222 per couple (handpickedhotels.co.uk).
Club cities
British Airways' "Luxury Seat Sale" ends at midnight tomorrow. You can fly in Club Europe from Heathrow or Gatwick for under £200 return to Berlin, Bordeaux, Zurich or Zagreb. Long haul, three nights in Dubai with first class flights and accommodation at the five-star Fairmont hotel costs £1,379 per person, travelling between 29 March and 6 April (britishairways.com).
Family idyll
The Tresco Estate has a week-long stay on the second-largest of the Isles of Scilly over February half term for £1,000. Down Under
Singapore Airlines has an interesting range of fares from Heathrow via Singapore to Australia's mainland capitals, if you can book by 11 March: Perth (£790), Adelaide (£795), Melbourne (£840), Darwin (£845), Sydney and Brisbane (both £850). Fares are valid for travel up until 5 December, but typically £230 higher during the northern summer (20 June to 15 August) (singaporeair.com).
