Good to go: Sicily, Nice, Mt Kinabalu
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Cobbled streets, ancient palazzi and rustic restaurants are just some of Taormina's attractions. Indulge in the gelaterie or catch the opera at the Greco-Roman amphitheatre, with its views of Mount Etna. Voyages Jules Verne is offering a week-long stay at the Park Hotel Silemi (pictured) – just north of the town centre, in Letojanni – for £545 per person. Return BA flights from Gatwick on 28 August are included.
French Riviera for less
The cost of a trip to the Côte D'Azur doesn't have to give you the blues. BA Holidays is offering a five-night stay at the Le Grimaldi hotel in Nice for £449 per person, including return flights from Heathrow in July. This four-star hotel is in the heart of Nice, which gives you the opportunity to explore both the beaches and landmarks such as the church of St-Nicholas as well as the Riviera resorts.
Malaysian adventure
For wildlife fans, Gap Adventures' "Sabah Adventure" group tour might tempt. Departing on 27 August, it visits an Orangutan-rehabilitation centre, rainforests, a turtle sanctuary and scales the height of one of South-east Asia's highest peaks, Mt Kinabalu, for £929. Accommodation, guiding and excursions are included throughout the 10-day itinerary, but not flights.
