Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Rhodes trip

If the combination of class and culture appeals, then a week on the island of Rhodes might fit the bill. Sovereign Luxury Travel is offering the chance to visit the acropolis at Lindos, or simply lounge on the beach, when you book seven nights at the Sheraton Rhodes Resort for £561. Located just a short drive from the city of Rhodes, the hotel boasts a spacious decked area overlooking the Aegean, chic white day-beds beside the pool and a range of bars and restaurants. The price also includes a buffet breakfast, transfers and return flights with Monarch from Gatwick, departing 25 May.

Lazy golf

The Belfry may be known as one of the spiritual homes of golf, but it's also got some appealing deals for the less energetic traveller. Book a one-night break at the historic hotel near Sutton Coldfield any time before 30 June and pay £85 per person for a "Spring AquaSpa Package". The deal includes accommodation in a double room, a 90-minute relaxation experience in the AquaSpa, a three-course buffet dinner in The Atrium restaurant, a full English breakfast, and access to leisure facilities such as the gym, pool and sauna. Prices are based on two sharing.

Crowd-free Turkey

The Turkish resort of Marmaris is best seen before the summer hordes descend. Stay at the beachside Mares Hotel – five miles away from the bars and restaurants of the main resort – and enjoy an all-inclusive stay in a one-bedroom villa for a week, for £377 per person with eayJet Holidays. Flights from Stansted to Dalaman are included, departing 23 May.
