The school holidays may have arrived, but it's not too late to book a family escape abroad. We asked three companies for their best offer on a one-week family holiday to Italy, departing later this month or in August. All prices are per person, based on two adults and two children travelling together.

Villa: £584, Citalia

This package includes easyJet flights from Gatwick to Pisa, departing on 1 August. Also included are seven nights' self-catering accommodation in an apartment at the Casa Vacanze Le Cellole, a restored farmhouse in the green hills of Tuscany just three kilometres from the towers of San Gimignano (01293 731 735; citalia.com).

Resort: £331, Thomas Cook

The offer includes easyJet flights from Gatwick to Venice, departing on 25 July, plus seven nights' half-board at the Hotel D'Annunzio in Lido Di Jesolo, a beach town north of Venice. The hotel has a café as well as a swimming pool, sun terrace, bicycles and table tennis (0844 412 5970; thomascook.com).

Active: £1,225, Family Adventure Co

Includes Alitalia flights from Heathrow to Naples on 8 August, plus B&B at the Villa Giovana in Sorrento. The package also includes trips to the ruins of Herculaneum and Pompeii, a boat trip around the Blue Grotto, and a climb to the top of Vesuvius (0808 250 7285; familyadventurecompany.co.uk).
