Eurostar is offering £1 single fares for children aged four to 11 (maximum two) travelling to Paris, Brussels or Lille in August in Standard or Standard Premier class. Book by tomorrow (bit.ly/EurostarKids). For domestic travel, Virgin Trains has a Family Fare from London Euston. Returns to Edinburgh and Glasgow (excluding the Commonwealth Games period) cost £130 for a family of six, £80 to Manchester and £50 to Birmingham. Outbound tickets must be booked at least a day in advance, but the return, within a month, needs no booking. Valid for trips until 30 August (virgintrains.co.uk/family-offer).

Make a last-minute South-west dash to Woolacombe Bay Holiday Parks.
