Deals of the Week: Eurostar v. EasyJet to Paris
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Competition between London and Paris is getting vicious. Eurostar (08705 186 186, www.eurostar.com) has just cut fares from Waterloo International to Paris to £59 for journeys from 7 June (book two weeks in advance and stay at least two nights, or over a Saturday night). By strange coincidence, this is five days before easyJet (0870 600 0000, www.easyJet.com) starts flying between Luton and Paris Charles de Gaulle. The airline will operate five flights a day with fares from £35 return – and no minimum-stay.

It will be a summer of discontent for many travellers on Britain's railways – especially between London, the West Midlands and the North West. Between now and 4 August, weekend services between London Marylebone and Birmingham will not operate north of Bicester. As soon as that engineering work ends, disruption begins between Hemel Hempstead and Milton Keynes.
