Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The concept, which is similar to the Jillian Michaels Ultimate Wellness Cruise planned by Norwegian Cruise Line later this year, will see chefs from the US-based Food Network take to the seas aboard the Celebrity Solstice on a cruise for culinary enthusiasts.
The ship will sail on a seven-night cruise of the Eastern Caribbean on August 22, with star chefs Cat Cora of Iron Chef and Aaron Sanchez of Chefs vs. City on board to conduct live demonstrations and a “battle of the chefs” event.
Guests will also enjoy a Food Network VIP lounge and screening room, a "dine-around" experience to sample favorite Food Network recipes, a red carpet reception and Caribbean cocktails at the Celebrity Solstice’s Lawn Club.
The cruise will leave Fort Lauderdale, Florida and will call at San Juan, St. Thomas and St. Maarten.
Celebrity Cruises is already a favorite with foodie fans; its most recent liner, the Celebrity Eclipse, had Australian celebrity chef Benjamin Christie on board for its maiden voyage.
Other well-known culinary names due to take to the seas with Celebrity’s ships around the world in 2010 include Adam Byatt, Daisy Martinez, Zach Bell and Carmen Gonzalez.
In May, the Norwegian Cruise Line announced that it had signed up TV star Jillian Michaels to host a cruise in October, inviting guests to enjoy "four days of healthy cuisine, heart-pounding exercise, and live entertainment."
The "ultimate wellness cruise" is expected to feature group workouts (simulcast to all cabins), team sports and workouts for all the family.
