The French Travel Service ( www.f-t-s.co.uk) has a number of attractive deals across the Channel, including a seven-day Champagne Tour starting at £589 per person.
The price includes train travel from St Pancras, local rail travel, six nights’ B&B, champagne house tours and tastings and a museum visit. Further south, the seven-day Touring in Provence trip costs from £550 visiting Avignon, Nimes and Arles for the same package, but excluding sightseeing.
From rails to sails: DFDS Seaways ( www.dfdsseaways.co.uk/Special_Offers) is offering 40 per cent off its mini cruises to the Netherlands and Denmark if booked before 30 April. A two-night cruise from Harwich to Esbjerg in Denmark costs from £55 per person, cabin only, for selected dates between April and June. A two-night wildlife cruise from Newcastle to Amsterdam, which offers the chance to spot puffins, guillemots, dolphins and minke whales, costs from £49 cabin only, including a wildlife presentation and activities for children. Available for selected dates between April and June.
A more luxurious option is a 14-night cruise of the Norwegian fjords on board P&O Oriana from £699 per person. The price is offered by Iglu Cruise ( www.iglucruise.com) and is for a 2 June Southampton departure with breakfast and entertainment included.
If you fancy charting your own course, Destination Portugal ( www.destination-portugal.co.uk) has discounts on boating holidays on Europe’s largest artificial lake, the Grand Lago, in Portugal’s Alentejo region. A week in May or June costs £450 per person (based on six sharing) including flights from London with TAP, car hire and seven days’ rental of a fully-equipped motor cruiser.
Those still clinging on to the winter season will still find snow in the Alps, with fresh snowfall in Val d’Isere, La Plagne and Alpe d’Huez last weekend. Snowline ( www.snowline.co.uk) is offering a week’s catered accommodation at the Praz d’Aval chalet (sleeping up to six) in Val d’Isere for £399 per person for an 18 April departure. The price does not include travel to France.
Finally, if you can book by 30 April, luxury operator Carrier ( www.carrier.co.uk) is offering a discount on a seven-night stay on the southern coast of Cyprus. The price of £965 per person is for accommodation at the Columbia Beach Resort Pissouri with complimentary half board upgrades until 31 July, BA flights from Gatwick and private transfers. Valid for travel until 31 October.
