Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Cookery holidays are all the rage, which is good news for my eldest, who wants to be a celebrity chef. Where better for a junior masterchef to wreak culinary havoc than a rural Spanish "cocina"? All Ways Spain (00 34 958 223 766; www.allwaysspain.com) offers some appetising family sojourns in Granada, with cookery lessons run by English-speaking chefs.

Those who prefer their kitchen fun Italian style can book in at the Montestigliano estate with Invitation to Tuscany (0845 838 7421; www.invitationtotuscany.com) where your bambini can attend half-day cookery classes. They'll try pizza and pasta making and whipping up a tiramisu. And with two swimming pools and acres of forest, there's plenty to occupy them.

Families who are really serious about cooking should head to the Trossachs, where Nick Nairn's Cook School (01877 389900; www.nicknairncookschool.com) runs regular "Foodies and Future Chefs" courses, where you stay in a four-star hotel and bond over chicken stroganoff. How's that for a tasteful family holiday?
