Photos of AirAsia staff kissing and cuddling luggage have been shared on social media in a bid to show the airline is changing its ways when it comes to transporting luggage safely.

Some 20 pictures were posted on Facebook by AirAsia employee Mohd Amir Izzat, along with the caption: “DEAR BAG, DOESN’T MATTER HOW WEIGHT IS THE BAG WAS, WE WILL HANDLE WITH KISS AND CARE......LOVE YOU BAG.

“We all apologies from all our mistake before.”

The photos show various baggage handlers with their arms wrapped around bags and suitcases while planting a kiss on them.

The post, which was uploaded on 26 March, has garnered just shy of 10,000 likes and 9,600 shares, but the reaction to the stunt has been mixed.

“You guys are darn cute. Just love it,” wrote user New Jersey Gal, while Soh Lay Choo commented: “No need to kiss. Just handle them with care!”

However, some passengers weren’t so keen on their luggage being handled “with kiss and care”.

Lonl Lee wrote: “PLEASE DONT DO THIS TO MY BAGS,” and Hazel Ling responded: “I would not be happy if this happened to my bag.”

The Malaysian low-cost airline received negative attention recently after a video of baggage handlers carelessly pulling a bike from a cargo hold ramp and subsequently breaking it went viral.

CEO Riad Asmat apologised for the incident and promised to waive all fees for transporting bicycles during April.

“As a cyclist myself, I was pretty disturbed when I saw the actions of our staff. Rest assured, we’ve taken action. We are looking into the matter very seriously and stern action will be taken accordingly.

”I hope we will continue to improve ourselves.”
