GETTING THERE

The Killhope Lead Mining Centre (tel: 01388 537505) is in Upper Weardale, eight miles from Alston, alongside the A689 Stanhope-Alston road. In summer, buses run by request from Stanhope to the mining centre. Call for public transport information (tel: 0191-383 3337).

FURTHER INFORMATION:

The centre is open daily from 10.30am to 4pm from 1 April to 31 October; Sundays from 10.30am to 4pm in November). Admission costs pounds 5 for adults, pounds 2.50 for children/concessions (family tickets for two adults and two children cost pounds 12.50). There is wheelchair access to most of the site, except below ground.
