OVERVIEW

Architect Emilio Ferrer designed a fantasy version of a Canarian village in Hotel Cordial Mogán Playa. The canarii, the Berber-descending inhabitants of the island before the 15th-century Castilian conquest, were active in this area and the hotel was prevented from over-development because of the archaeological significance of the site.

OUR REVIEW

THE NEIGHBOURHOOD

Set back from Mogán's banana-curved bay, Hotel Cordial Mogán Playa is nonetheless a mere five-minute walk from the beach. It's a couple of minutes to the bus station with destinations including the airport and capital Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Explore the bounty of Davy Jones' Locker without getting wet via Puerto de Mogan's fun Submarine Adventure, a child-friendly attraction.

By plane: flights from London, Birmingham and Manchester to Gran Canaria take around 4 hours 30 mins. The hotel is a 35-minute taxi ride from the airport. Free parking on-site. Book flights to Gran Canaria.

THE FACILITIES

Keeping with the village theme, staff dress in traditional Canarian attire. An app keeps you abreast of the hotel's varied entertainment programme. Play air hockey or table football at the arcade; there's also a bowling alley to strike out at. To keep up with your exercise routine, there's a gym.
