Hotel Review: Myconian Korali, Mykonos

The Myconian Korali is levelled on slopes and is located in the Megali Ammos area at the top of a hill, in a complex alongside two of the brand's other hotels. The party beaches of Cavo Paradiso and Super Paradise are around four miles away, while the historic island of Delos is just a 30-minute boat trip from the port.

The exterior references the whitewashed walls and cubism of traditional Cycladic island architecture, while the interior design has a more contemporary feel, with well chosen design pieces, fabrics and artworks and bold splashes of colour. There's a small reception lobby with some sofas looking out to stunning sea views. The pool area looks out to sea and is attractively decked out with yellow and blue parasols and cushions; there's a lovely stone-walled beach bar alongside it.

The hotel has a pool area with bar, a restaurant boasting great sea views, a spa (shared with the Korali's two sister hotels located on the same site) and a fitness centre. There's also a yoga studio, Pilates and personal training can be arranged. The concierge service can book excursions and suggest top restaurants, bars and activities.

Rooms have the signature Myconian look, with lots of wood, funky vases and artworks, and bold splashes of colour. There are upscale features which could include plunge pools, hot tubs and terraces.

The hotel has a fine dining restaurant, Baos, which also serves a buffet-style breakfast with a good choice of hot options, cold cuts and cheeses, pastries and fruit. Local ingredients are used heavily, there's a tasting menu, and there's a good selection of fish and seafood.
