Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Mr Goldberg has previously spoken to The Independent about the worst experience he’s had on his travels – and now he’s sharing the best.

The best food – Thailand

I’ve been to Thailand three times, and I just spent the last week there at a travel convention. Pad Thai, green curry, Tom Yum soup and spring rolls are just some of my favourite Thai dishes. I’ve never seen a cuisine that is sour, sweet, salty, bitter and spicy all at the same time. It’s cheap also - for just $1-2USD, you can get one of the best meals of your life. Don’t forget about the fresh fruit shakes and coconut milk!

The best nightlife – Seoul

I’ve partied in almost every city that I’ve been to around the world, and none comes close to Seoul. The city comes electric at night with bars/clubs/lounges staying open until 6 or 7 AM. Koreans are friendly, with a strong passion for drinking in which they drink soju (a rice liquor) at any social gathering. The clubs in Gangnam (Seoul’s posh nightlife district) are massive and attract some of the world’s best DJs.

The friendliest people – Burma

I spent two weeks in Myanmar in January of this year. Every single person that I met greeted me with a warm smile and open arms. I could just sense the friendliness in their eyes. I always felt welcomed around the country, and I’m itching to go back as soon as I can.

The most beautiful scenery - Norway

I absolutely fell in love with Norway after my trip in 2013. I visited Bergen and took a cruise throughout the beautiful fjords on the west coast. Norway has the freshest air I’ve ever breathed along with pristine untouched nature that’s so mind-blowing that it doesn’t look real.
