All Souls falls on a Thursday this year, which means children can get a double dose of Hallowe'en. As well as celebrating on the night itself, there are plenty of ghostly goings-on for families this weekend.

East Anglia: Guy Fawkes and Hallowe'en concert

Traditional fairground music is often used as a creepy soundtrack to horror movies, so this Wurlitzer concert should produce a frisson amongst the Thursford collection of ornate organs and traction engines. North West: Hallowe'en at Pleasureland

Staff and rides at this amusement park will be themed for the evening and various fancy dress prizes will be awarded. Special-offer wrist bands mean a bargain pounds 2.99 to ride all night. Southport Pleasure Pavilion, Marine Drive, Southport, Merseyside (01704-532 717) Thu 31 Oct, 5pm-9pm.

Yorkshire: Ghost trains

At the Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway ghost trains will be running on Sunday, courtesy of the Great Wizard. Children will receive "horrible" gifts. South East: Weird workshop

A friendly ghost will be opening his haunted cottage to children, with supernatural surprises lurking in its corridors, such as Winifred the Witch and various workshops on disguises, masks and puppets. West Country: Magic lantern days

Free pumpkins will be available for children to make lanterns, and there's a lighting-up ceremony every afternoon (27 Oct-3 Nov). 11am-12.30pm, 1.30pm- 3pm. Thursday's party includes apple bobbing, fancy dress, and witch's footsteps. The ghost train at dusk will whisk children off to the spooky lake to look for bats. (4.30pm-8pm). Quayside festival

Devon offers an imaginative celebration of folklore with special events for ghosties, ghoulies and long-legged beasties running throughout the week, leading up to a special night in Hope Square on Hallowe'en night. Tower Hill pageant, London
