The Coolest Cooler just became the most well-funded project in Kickstarter history

Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Until two days the Pebble smartwatch held the record as the best-funded project in Kickstarter history. Now, that crown has been stolen, by a drink-blending, bottle-opening, music-pumping beer cooler.
Yep, this is the Coolest Cooler, a “21st Century Cooler That’s Actually Cooler” according to the hyperbolic marketing spiel on the Kickstarter website.
With just nine hours to go the project is currently soaring past $12 million in funding – handily beating the $10.3 million that the Pebble smartwatch attracted when it hit the market.
Although the early bird specials are all gone, the ‘regular bird special’ can still get you a Coolest Cooler for $185 (extra for shipping outside the US). The box itself looks a bit of a monstrosity, but it makes up for styling with extras, including:
USB charging!
Speakers and shelves!
Built-in-blender!
Plates'n'knives!
Strap your gear to it!
Open your bottles on it!
Put your beer in it!
And look at those sturdy beach wheels
To top it off? A blinding LED light.
Is it any wonder that this is making millions before it's even been made? Truly, it's the coolest cooler. If you've not seen enough, then definitely check out the promo video below:
