Gamescom is the world’s largest interactive games and entertainment trade fair, attracting more than 250,000 visitors annually. Gamescom showcases the latest games, provides hands-on demos and celebrates the gaming community. This year Nokia will hold a joint press conference with Microsoft during Gamescom where it is rumored they will unveil one or more Nokia Windows Phones. The European leg of the Game Developers Conference (GDC) runs concurrently to Gamescom.

BIRTV is a major event for the Chinese and International TV, film and radio industry. Leading companies from the industry will show off their latest equipment and technologies to a crowd of around 55,000 attendees. Highlights include the BIRTV Summit, Awards, and Digital Theatre plus the New Digital Medias Summit and Showcase. The event will also encompass conferences and technical seminars as well as further exploration of HD, 3D, NGB, CMMB and Digital Cinema formats.

Seminars and workshops are held concurrently during the event. In 2011 more than 500 brands will be on display. The trade event is held in association with InfoComm International, the organizers of leading information communications expo, InfoComm.

The Ars Electronica Festival is an annual event that harnesses innovative collisions between state-of-the-art technology, provocative art, and intellectual thinking. Since 1979 the festival has invited artists, scientists and technologists to enrich the minds of people around them through festival activities such as exhibitions, performances, discussions and lectures. It is considered to be the most important digital arts festival in the world and attracts 35,000 visitors annually. More than 300 events are planned for the 2011 edition which will focus on the theme of “ORIGIN – How It All Begins.”

Alongside CES, CeBIT and Computex, IFA is one of the world's biggest consumer electronics trade shows. IFA attracted 1,423 exhibitors and 235,000 visitors in 2010, generating 3.5 billion euros worth of orders. The event is a technology lover's paradise and also serves as a launchpad for many new innovative consumer appliances. Last year's notable IFA announcements included Samsung's first tablet the Galaxy tab, the world's slimmest LED 3D TV, and the ViewSonic ViewPad 100 the world's first dual-boot tablet.

The conference follows a strict format - participants have just six minutes to show off their inventions. A satellite event called Demo Asia will take place from November 29-30 in Singapore.

21st Tokyo Game Show

Along with GDC, E3 and Gamescom, the Tokyo Game Show is one of the year's most important and influential expos. Strong showings from Sony's internal studios and Nintendo's third-party developers can be expected, and Microsoft used the 2010 event to show that they were keen to see the Xbox 360 accepted by Japanese consumers.
