Spotify down: Music app breaks on a bad day for streaming sites

The problems came just hours after YouTube ran into some of its own

Spotify has run into problems, leaving people unable to access its app and stream music.

The issues came on what appeared to be a bad day for the world's biggest streaming services – just hours before, YouTube had broken and people looking to access the site were unable to get on it.

As with YouTube, the problems appeared to affect people across Europe, the US and the rest of the world.

It meant that people were unable to properly load the app, and couldn't stream music. Anything saved through Spotify's offline listening features still worked – but new songs were unable to load.

Throughout the problems the app claimed to be connecting but never actually managed to do so.

Spotify initially tweeted that it was aware of the issues and was looking into fixing them. It later confirmed that the problem had been fixed and that people should be able to get back online.
